Exhibit of Ukrainian Easter Eggs Come see the beautiful Ukrainian Easter Eggs on exhibit in the glass display case at the front of the Mary K. Finley library. The eggs were created and loaned by Carolyn Trout of Joplin. Carolyn Trout, former director of the Joplin Public Library, has been creating Ukrainian Easter eggs (pysanky) for 29 years. This ancient art form uses egg shells, beeswax, and water-soluble dyes to create masterpieces in miniatur e. The wax-resist process is a complicated
version of the method used by children to dye eggs for Easter egg hunts. |
